1 on 1 training is a great time to get your position specific training in. Many times in team training we are unable to hone in on what makes us special as players. This specific training will allow the player to think freely and make game like decisions tailored to their position.
Small group training is in two settings. 1: with your buddies; 2: with other players of the same age and skill. The main purpose of this is to focus on high intensity 1v1, 2v1 and 3v2 situations where we have the freedom to execute combination plays and passing patterns.
I normally tailor this to our younger age groups, but EVERYONE should focus on ball mastery. This training is highly technical and each player will get a vast amount of touches on the ball. Our program will focus on specific stationary moves at the beginning and progress into 1v1 situations to the point where each player can feel confident attacking during games.
The crazy and bold. Yes, I said it. Goalkeepers are a special breed, so their training should be treated as such. The keeper sessions are designed to implement 3 things: technique, footwork (with and without the ball) and communication. The strongest keepers are calm leaders at the back orchestrating their back lines to keep them compact and organized.
